The Program Committee proposes, plans, and implements GODORT programs.

Agenda:

  1. Welcome and Introductions of the GODORT Program Committee Members
  2. Reminder of GODORT LibLearnX (Midwinter) 2024 Committee virtual meetings schedule at LIbGuide January 8-12 - https://godort.libguides.com/midwinter2024
  3. Reminder of ALA LibLearnX physical conference schedule in Baltimore January 9-22 - https://alaliblearnx2024.eventscribe.net/
  4. Steering Committee Updates
    1. GODORT Task Force on Committee Size and Composition is working through feedback they received from committee chairs and members toward what committees could perhaps combine efforts to help reduce and create more consistency on the number of vacant committee slots to be filled each year. Program committee only worked with 2 members this past year, 2 vacant slots never filled. Will see if some committees can be combined, then will know how many vacancies there will be for 2024-25
    2. Chair, Chair-Elect, Past Chair, and Nominations chair worked to secure nominations for GODORT officer positions for ALA ballot for 2024-25: GODORT Chair-Elect, Publications Chair-Elect, Secretary
  5. Reminder about Friday Chats -  https://godort.libguides.com/fridaychats
  6. Reminder of Help! Webinars - past webinars on YouTube - https://www.youtube.com/channel/UC6CfualeU8N77us06prY10Q
  7. ALA Annual Updates
    1. Two GODORT sponsored ALA Annual programs proposals were not accepted by ALA juries. Rachel Olsen of PPIRS notified us that the proposal she submitted with PPIRS and ANSS as Cosponsor Funding Unit(s) and with GODORT as Cosponsor in Name Only for “Pulling Back the Curtain on Housing Research: A Primer on the Housing Crisis in California” was not selected by the ACRL Submission Jury. Also, Elizabeth Sanders notified us that her program proposal "Government Information in Evidence Synthesis: Opportunities & Challenges" to the ALA Jury as a GODORT only program has also not been accepted. Program Committee will now work with Chair Ben Aldred on a Chair’s Program, perhaps using one of these proposals.
  1. Reviewing Program related PPM's - the one for the Program Committee (was last revised 1/2023) and also the one for the Assistant Chair/Chair-Elect (older, last revised 3/2020, that has lots of Program Committee content in it). The Program Committee PPM still has some minor areas for improvement (to delete the need for 50 copies of minutes which is outdated, as any minutes are now sent to the Technology Committee). The Assistant Chair/Chair-Elect PPM is much more out of date and everything in it about the Program Committee (because the Assistant Chair/Chair-Elect is the Program Committee Chair) doesn't really match much what is in the Program Committee PPM, feel they should be consistent.
