Cataloging Toolbox for State & Local Government Information

The Nebraska State Documents Depository Library System is operated by the Nebraska Library Commission. It collects the publications of all branches of state government and state-funded educational institutions.

The Nebraska Library Commission Catalog includes records for state publications available for loan. Electronic versions of downloaded publications are linked from the records.

The Blue Book is Nebraska's official reference manual, with information about the state's government, geography, economy, history and culture. This complete run from 1899 is housed by the Nebraska Library Commission.

The Nebraska Library Commission assigns numbers alphabetically by state agency, then expanded depending on the type of publication. The Library does not publish the expansion tables, as the Library Commission/Publications Clearinghouse is the only Nebraska agency allowed to assign the numbers to the state documents. However, the complete class numbers are readily available on all state documents in the catalog.
