Alabama does not have a state depository system, nor does it have a state library. The Alabama Department of Archives and History has the most comprehensive collection of Alabama state documents. It catalogs state documents at the series level using archival description standards.
The state of Alabama has two Regional depository libraries, Auburn University Montgomery and the University of Alabama. The Regionals cooperate on the administration of the Federal Depository Library Program in Alabama, but have divided the state into two ‘regions.’ Each Regional is the primary regional for 11 selective depositories.
The GODORT State Agency Databases Alabama Guide provides an annotated list of state government agency resources which includes libraries, catalogs, directories and digital collections. These are excellent resources for cataloging and authority work.
